One of the most basic—and powerful—tools in all of science and medicine is the light microscope. The Fletcher Lab at UC Berkeley and collaborators in the US and around the world are designing technology that turns the camera of a mobile phone or tablet computer into a high-quality light microscope. By combining mobile microscopy with automation and wireless communication, we are creating new ways to tackle applications from infectious disease diagnosis to classroom education.
